A drilling riser is a conduit extending from the offshore drilling platform to the seabed, which provides a circulation passage between the borehole and the drilling platform constructed above the sea and can be equipped with well diverters and wellhead equipment to guarantee work safety down in the well.In the drilling process,the strength and safety of the riser is essential for the safety of offshore drilling operations.
On the offshore platform, the riser is a necessary component for exploration.Depending on the requirements for application and field operating conditions, risers generally have a length of about 12m but vary in diameters, which are available at 20 inches,24 inches,30 inches, and so on.Depending on the water depth of the water area to be drilled,a specific number of risers are connected up through the quick-connect connector designed at the end of each riser to isolate the water and protect drilling pipes.Therefore, it is required that the body and connector of the riser should have enough strength to withstand the impact of pilling and sea wave,be quickly disassembled and connected up and isolate water.
